It all started in Grandma's kitchen...

Growing up in Gonaïves Haiti, Flavie remembers her trips to the countryside of Lahatte Desdunes to visit her grandparents. During her visits, Grandma Icencia would put her in charge of preparing the “epis” using a mortar and pestle, also known as a "pilon." The epis is one of the most important parts of creating a traditional Haitian meal. Flavie grew to appreciate and enjoy fresh Caribbean food. Although Flavie has lived in America most of her life, she remains a lover of traditional Caribbean cuisine. As a busy working mom, she always looks for ways to cook quick and healthy meals every day. She is excited to share her seasoning recipes with cooks everywhere.

The name Golden Heart was first coined by Flavie’s children: Dario and Kayla as they described their mother’s kind nature, generosity and compassion for others. Golden Heart Foods is all about sharing and showing love and compassion for others through one of the best ways to get people together, food.
